Frequently asked

Questions our clients ask most often.

How often must an overhead crane be inspected?+

Under LOLER, lifting equipment used for lifting people must be thoroughly examined at least every 6 months, and other lifting equipment at least every 12 months — or in accordance with an examination scheme. We also inspect after any modification or incident.

Is GCS a LEEA member?+

Yes. GCS is a Full Member of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), the global body governing lifting equipment competence — the de-facto standard for credible lifting inspections in Oman.

Do you load-test overhead cranes?+

Yes. We witness proof-load tests using calibrated load cells and water bags or test weights, verify the SWL, and check overload protection and brakes under load.

How quickly can GCS mobilise an overhead crane inspection in Oman?+

For routine work in Muscat, Sohar or Duqm, mobilisation is typically within 2 working days. Emergency and post-incident jobs can be mobilised same-day, with reports issued within 5 working days.
